Financial assistance for your accommodation
What is APL?
This is financial assistance (called an “allowance”) for housing. It is paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF).
What is it for?
This allowance can help you pay your rent.
If you have purchased a home and borrowed money from the bank, APL can help you pay off this loan.
Who is it for?
If you have little money or a low salary, you may be eligible for housing assistance.
If you have a high salary, you will not be entitled to it.
It is paid according to your housing situation:
- You are single or a couple, with a dependent, and you rent a subsidized accommodation (most social housing is subsidized)
- If you have bought a house or apartment, and you have borrowed money from the bank, you may be entitled to housing assistance.
When to apply?
As soon as you have the keys to your accommodation.
Before doing the simulation, gather the following information:
- on your accommodation
- on the composition of your family
- your current professional situation: are you working? On a fixed-term contract? Permanent contract?
- your personal income for 2018 (income = salary, money earned at work)
- your bank statements showing the current amount of your assets
- your latest notice of assessment for housing tax: you will find there “The gross rental value” of your built real estate to be declared.
- your latest notice of assessment for property taxes
If you live as a couple, you will be asked about the profession and salary of your partner/spouse.
